abstract = "The American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL) is an infectious,
however not contagious parasitic illness, transmitted for known
mosquitos as phlebotomines. The distribution of this vector can
vary according to the geographical location. The insect develops
the ingested parasite, becoming infective to the human beings,
causing injuries in the skin and mucosa (nose, mouth), that it
made this illness to be known as {"}wounded brave{"}. The ACL is a
illness which can affect all human being that is in present in
places whose environment is populated by mosquitoes. The majority
of the cases occur in Northern parts of Brazil, although in the
north of the Sao Paulo coast line, a touristic area, the number of
cases are also high. In 2003 the number of cases reach its peak
and this reason motivated the development of this assignment. The
spatial and temporal distribution of the registered cases during
the period 1998-2006 in Ubatuba county, Sao Paulo state, were
analyzed using geoprocessing techniques and land cover
information. The results showed that the illness seems to affect
workers in general (masculine). It was found that the affected
people usually live close to the forest and the land cover
dynamics seems to play significant role in the contamination
cycle. The results also showed that the illness contamination can
be affected by economical and geographical factors once people
choose their house in accordance with their income.",
