             abstract = "Parnamirim belongs to the State of the Rio Grande do Norte, 
                         Northeast region of Brazil. The urban growth in this city comes 
                         being done of disordered form and continuous, where the natural 
                         landscape comes suffering constant modifications. This work 
                         presents the evolution of the urban expansion of Parnamirim for 
                         the years of 1969, 1994 and 2003, evaluating the partner-ambient 
                         consequences that this growth comes causing in the city. One was 
                         verified sped up growth of the urban spot, where if a urban area 
                         of 3,07% in relation to the total extension of the city had in the 
                         year of 1969, in 1994 reached a value of 16,13% and in 2003 it 
                         reached a percentage of 23,46%, being that this raised growth has 
                         contributed for the degradation of the environment of the city.",
