water quality
AbstractThis work was carried through in intention to supply an extra tool to the inquiry of the coastal waters quality through the data acquisition by remote sensing. Water samples in a total of collecting station varying from 13 to 18 - had been acquired at the depth of 50 cm in the Guanabara Bay in the same day of the pass of the Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 satellites. Three parameters (Temperature of the Water and Turbidity) beyond being mapped, had been studied through regression analysis, which had indicated correlation with the data gotten from the digital processing of two of the satellite images (which had passed through atmospheric correction and conversion from digital number to reflectance and radiance), making possible the establishment of models that, based in the TM and ETM+ sensors data, estimate the value of such parameters. The generated models had presented good performance, with significance above of 95 % and errors verified in the showed points, in general, below of 30 %. The resultant maps of the application of the models had been compared with the maps generated from the interpolation of the field data. The evaluated mistakes for the models were also mapped, using the same technique, making it possible to verify the areas in which models are more reliable and those in which its use can meet more restricted.
