AbstractThe present research investigated the irrigation of a bean crop with different depths and analyze their effect on the spectral behavior and absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (APAR)use efficiency, for crop production and productivity. An experiment was installed in Rio das Pedras, SP - Brazil, during the winter season of 07/1999. The trial was in not randomized blocks, with 6 replicates for each of the 4 treatments. The water application was performed by a line source sprinkler system. In the experiment, the bean cultivar IAC - Carioca 80 was used. Thus, for all the treatments, when the vegetation vigor increased, the refl ctance values increased in the TM4 band, the opposite occurring with the TM3 values. The different irrigation depths influenced significantly the radiation use efficiency for crop production and the largest irrigation depth correspondent to the largest values found at the probability level of 5.
