AbstractThis work evidences the geoprocessing techniques more appropriate to identify, quantify e map impermeable soil areas in capital of Goiania-GO. Due to seasonal behaviors of Cerrado Vegetation, it was necessary to consider such a feature in the methodology, through processing images obtained in dry and wet seasons on study area. The work was developed in many steps, initially, gross images from CDD e HRC sensors, taken on board of CBERS-2B satellite were pre-processed, being used the atmospheric correction and restauration, and next being made registers and fusion of these images. It was applied the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) on fused image with spatial resolution of 2.5 meters, being converted the images to the vetorial shapefile format. It started from the assumption that areas with greater soil waterproofing usually has less quantity for vegetal coverage, thereby observing vegetation index obtained by the processing images involving near infrared and red bands, it is possible to preliminarily identify areas that can be more or less impermeable, it is necessary to perform visual inspections considering vegetation index and original images obtained. The results showed that waterproofing in Goiania city reached 31,56% of its 72651,16 ha total area, in dry periods by 2008. It was observed in urban area a higher density on Anhanguera-Axis , reaching in this sector a higher level of 78% of waterproofing. The higher concentration of waterproofing area is of class smooth, with 21,43% total area.
