AbstractThis paper propose to use tools and techniques of remote sensing to monitor Mesoscale Convective Complex (CCM). The CCM's are defined as a whole of thick and cold cumulonimbus clouds which appear circular form and a vertical growth in a break between 6 and 12 hours and they are connected to intense precipitation events and wind gusts. To realize a case research of an CCM between October 23 and 24, 2010, acting in Moxotó watershed (Pernambuco/Alagoas), this paper apply remote sensing techniques for a detailed observation of the behavior of the phenomenon, contributing to the growth of the knowledge of meteorological systems operating in a region. To perform the monitoring, were used satellite images GOES-12 obtained by Institute National of Specials Space (INPE). To observe the consequences caused by the CCM's acting, were used meteorological data (like precipitation, air temperature and relative humidity) of meteorological stations and the estimated value of precipitation were extracted too by satellite images of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and spatialized to a better understanding of event. Keywords: mesoscale convective complex; precipitation; remote sensing; meteorology; climatology. Palavras-chaves: complexo convectivo de mesoescala; precipitação; sensoriamento remoto; meteorologia; climatologia.
