| Abstract | The present study approaches 3 concrete examples of works carried out in Unquillo, wich allowed the implement of a Municipal GIS who's economic and technical characteristics of instrumentation were adapted to the times we live in. This was carried out without affecting the institutions indispensable resources, by means of low cost technologies, establishing the bases of a participating Municipal GIS, involving social factors. Inside this mark, the instrumentation of the Cadastral Administration System, considered an important reference for the remaining systems of territorial information will be commented. The construction of the Geographical Atlas of ¨Unquillo" persues the end of involving schools in the knowledge of geographical space, as well as learning and reinforcing the feeling of ownership to a place, valuing the comunitiy youths needs, interests, possibilities and expectations. Another example in this city, is the case of the Administration of Hidric Reserve and Municipal Recreation System of The Quebrachitos", where the implementation of methodologies and geoprocesing technologies (GIS, teledetección, etc.), were presented as an unquestionable necessity. | |||
