AbstractBased on TM and ETM images, topographical charts, geomorphological map and the SPRING Software, it is possible to recognize ten types of lacustre sytems in the Araguaia floodpain: meanders spires; compost meanders spires; oxbows; compost oxbows; colmated oxbows; lateral acreation lakes; abandoned channel lakes; abandoned chained channel lakes; block valley and marginal dikes. To this classification is added other parameters relative to each one, such as area, perimeter, geographical coordinates, morphological classification and physicochemical data. This complex of data permits the creation of a robust database from riverine systems and allows the crossing analysis of these parameters, integrating different data for a more understandable knowledge of hydric resources.
