| Abstract | The term "restinga" is commonly used to designate the divers types of vegetational formations that occur on the coastal plain. Because it is located along the brazilian coast, the restinga vegetation is under intense pressure of human occupation, what renders difficult for conservation. The "Atlas of restinga ecosystem remnants of the lagoon estuarine complex of Iguape, Ilha Comprida e Cananéia, south coastal region of São Paulo State" proposes the mapping of the restinga ecosystem on those municipalities according to the classification proposed on the CONAMA resolution nº. 7/1996, in relation to the typology, disrespecting the sucessionals stages. The Atlas will be elaborate by geoprocessing and digital cartography techniques. The restinga classes will be identified on stereoscopic pairs of vertical aerial photographs. Field works will be done to confirm the preliminary mapping. Until now, we identified for the municipality of Cananéia the followings restinga formations: dune vegetation, shrub restinga, short restinga forest, tall restinga forest, dune thicket vegetation and swamp forest. We conclude that is not possible the identification of the majority classes of restinga proposed on CONAMA resolution nº. 7/1996 on LANDSAT 5 (TM), LANDSAT 7 (ETM) e CBERS- 2B (CCD) satellites images, according to the tests results of visual interpretation and automatic classifications carried out on this study. The restinga ecosystem identification was possible with the stereoscopic pairs of vertical aerial photographs in detail scale and the extensive field work accompanied with a specialist on restinga florist and physiognomy support. |
