| Resumo | The Brazilian Amazon has the largest area of continuous tropical forest that is preserved in the world, but the manner of its use and soil cover in the region has been decreased because of the indiscriminate use of their natural resources. The creation of Conservation Units of the Legal Amazon can be an effective strategy to preserve large areas of contiguous forest, contributing to the maintenance of ecosystems and environmental services, however, data on deforestation in the Conservation Units in the State of Maryland indicate that almost a third of the vegetation cover has changed. The Flona is among the most devastated areas protected by the State. The use of tools like Geoprocessing contributes to the effectiveness of our monitoring system, because it shares the opportunity to improve the prevention and fight against deforestation as well as to offer more technical means and only applied to the analysis of tracking the region at an acceptable cost. The study shows the analysis of the change of use and soil cover, around the line 2 situated in the village of Rio Pardo within the limits of the Bom Futuro Flona in the period from 2000 to 2007, using the digital maps of the scene PRODES 232 / 67 and performing the analysis in GIS Arcview 3.2. The results show that the advance of deforestation is still happening in the vicinity of roads and that the use of data via remote sensors are highly effective in monitoring the use and coverage of the earth. | |||
