| Abstract | This work is an application of the SPRING on the environmental degradation and the disaster risks management studies as a social-environment interaction, aiming sustainable development. It is part of LA RED project ENSO Disaster Risk Management in Latin America: A Proposal for the Consolidation of a Regional Network for Comparative Research, Information and Training from a Social Perspective that corresponds to the IAI Science Agenda theme Integrated Assessment, Human Dimensions and Applications and of CNPq project Environmental Degradation and Agricultural Vulnerabilities Studies face to ENOS Disasters in the semi-arid of the state of Paraíba. The results of this work had shown to have a direct relation between the environmental degradation and the social, economic, technological and drought vulnerabilities of the rural population and that this defines the risks of disasters, aggravated by the climatic changes, mainly in years El Niño. If they will not have urgent measures by government the desertification in Sousa tends to get worse. |
