AbstractThe objective of this work was to identify the nutritional deficiency of nitrogen in bean plants using spectral indexes and digital image processing techniques. To this aim were developed artificial neural networks with different numbers of neurons. After the acquisition of the images with a digital camera they were cut in blocks with the size of 20x20 and 40x40 pixels. The artificial neural networks worked well to determine the different doses of nitrogen applied in the bean plants. The results using the images acquired at 30 and 40 days after emergency were not different.
