AbstractIn this paper, SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data from RADARSAT-1 satellite and PUC-Rio Fluorescence LIDAR (operating from a tug) were combined to detect algae bloom in marine area. Relative chlorophyll a concentration, calculated using LIDAR spectra, pointed out high values in an area identified by the SAR image with low intensity pixels. Chlorophyll concentrations were measured from the samples collected during the trip and confirmed high concentration in that region.
