AbstractThe aim of this paper is present the seasonal variation of the urban heat island in one of the hottest city in Brazil, Mossoró, RN. We used the ASTER VNIR and ASTER on demand product 08 - Surface Temperature to measure the vegetation behavior and surface temperature variation on April and August 2001. On April Mossoró presented the highest precipitation and August is one of the drier months. The Envi quick_diff_stats module was used to calculate the bands similarity and the NIR band presented the highest difference, show the seasonal vegetation behavior effect.
