AbstractThis paper describes some important aspects of a research being carried out about the use of remote sensing techniques for the assessment of the existence of tree species with energetic potential in the Amazon region. Based on a detailed study involving image interpretation and fieldwork for the years of 1998-99, a temporal observation from 1986 to 2004 is being managed in the region of the river Jurua, southwest Amazonas State.
